Coming, Staying, Living.
The main project ”Coming, Staying, Living – Ruralizing Europe”
Project aim
The aim of the project is twofold: first to find, evaluate and compare the procedures that enhances or prevents migration into the countryside. Second: to enhance the living conditions in rural areas so people can stay and thrive. This will be done on three levels. These levels are village level, council level and the state level in each country. The findings will each country and partner use for improving migration into the countryside in their own countries, as well as in suggesting common procedures for EU and ETA-countries.
First of all, the projects and its stakeholders want to raise awareness that an active, growing and thriving countryside benefits the villages, councils and towns, countries and the whole of EU.
Secondly, we act by gathering information, comparing and sharing it and exchanging practices. The aim is to get at least five insights or recommendations on how to improve the migration process.
Thirdly, we will suggest changes in villages’, councils’ and states’ procedures to get people to migrate to the countryside, as well as each country´s own legislation as well as EU’s legislation, when applicable.
The main target group of the project will be villages, where the focus is on youth and how to encourage local inhabitants to stay in the area. Second target group is the council/town civil servants who carry out the actions and decision makers/councilors who make decisions on the procedures on the council, regional and state level.
